Oh, the new Liars album is out March 21st(Drum's Not Dead). I thought that is a pic of a hamburger until I enlarged it. The album has "three cinematic versions of the album". So that's 36 videos on a seperate DVD. Ah, I hate recommending Liars to anyone, but they are so brilliant. They do the best version of ESG, E Neubauten and, currently, Sonic Youth that anyone ever did...but I only noticed that when someone pointed it out. I was seduced the first time I saw them play, blinded ever since.
I still maintain that if I had my choice to be in any two bands, it would be Liars and Fugazi, simultaneously.

Remember Q-bert? This is what he says when he falls to his death/snakes bounce on him:
"@!*?@!"
That's what you get, opening acts for Greyskul.

Here is a reason to stay on LJ
http://community.livejournal.com/jumpingpictures/profile
I...love...pictures of jumping! I love the terror/joy/coolness of the expressions on people's face. I also like pictures of people falling -- there is a potential for that here. Bouncing balls down really steep avenues is also fun, but it's hard to really appreciate that on film -- sort of like taking a picture of the Red Balloon...it's just...a Red Balloon...
Everyone jumps differently...maybe you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she jumps...I'm going to think about this.
Though people need to stop with the Kriss Kross jokes...don't do it!

I fought the war I fought the war, I fought the war But the war won... *grimey, midrange-y guitars and cymbals scream along*
Is the chorus/hook to a really, really great song, one that isn't too preachy because Emily Haines makes me happy. And Metric's Live it Out should be in your collection. Yes, even you haters.
God, I don't want to move unless I can take my balcony with me.
Oh shit, my armpits smell like fifteen sacks of assholes and cheese...but I just want to smoke on my balcony. As in light a big fire.
I think that badass black chow in my neighborhood died and came back an a motherfuckin' badass black cat!! Twice, I've seen this cat on my neighbor's rooftop -- that's about 40 feet up -- totally scaring pigeons, looking for a way to dismantle some fat pigeon heads. Those bloated, wellfed assholes cock (!) their heads in a really strange way, and I know that dude is up there. Suddenly, he saunters up...fuckin' a. I just saw him sprinting down the sidewalk. I yelled, "Badass!!!!" to him. He knows. I know. You know how we do.

I have like one foot of snow on my car. There is an 8000 foot icicle hanging by my window.
I know everyone hates snow, but...if we're gonna have a winter, and we're already cold, we might as well do this shit.

You think you're evil but you're not Still sucking life from the mainstream It's so deluded give it up What's that you hide behind your pile of shit
COULD IT BE I HAVE GIVEN UP Feeling blind to all important scenes
It's so deluded give it up / it's unoriginal
Find out exactly what is meant To be abducted in-between Another moment documents The fading magic of what could have been...

To all who have Valentine girls/bois:
If I fell in love with you, Would you promise to be true And help me understand?
'Cause I've been in love before And I found that love was more Than just holdin' hands.
If I give my heart To you, I must be sure From the very start That you Would love me more than her.
If I trust in you Oh, please, Don't run and hide. If I love you too Oh, please, Don't hurt my pride like her
'Cause I couldn't stand the pain And I Would be sad if our new love Was in vain.
So I hope you see That I Would love to love you And that she Will cry When she learns we are two
'Cause I couldn't stand the pain And I Would be sad if our new love Was in vain.
So I hope you see That I Would love to love you And that she Will cry When she learns we are two. If I fell in love with you

So, if I actually DJ tonight...
The problem is this: Mike Snyder is promoting the show. John Lamonica (http://www.myspace.com/carterferris) tells me that he just found out that the PA is shit. I imagine they won't even have CD decks...so if that's the case, I aint doin' it. And I'm scared to go just because I'm intimidated by John's music.
But if I am, I plan on playing Dalek, Original Hamster, The Juan Maclean, Subtitle and a bunch of what I call "mixtape" DJ music -- as in, no one is dancing so I might as well instruct and garner, "What the hell is this? This is cool, I think". The fact that someone once told me that Chemical Brothers' "Scale" is "a tight jam" keeps me hopeful in these situations. Anyway, this aint gonna happen so why am I posting? Because I want to look cool.
*******************
Okay, yep, there are like 33 bands playing tonight. It's at some venue next to Port o' Call called Captain's Quarters. I guess Mike Snyder is combining two different shows. GOD I HATE THAT GUY!!!!!!
Anyway, $7.

RIP
J DILLA
1974 - 2006

Jay Dee Dead at 32
Amy Phillips reports:
James Yancey, the man known to the hip-hop world as Jay Dee and J Dilla, passed away this morning at his home in Los Angeles. He was 32 years old.
While the cause of death has yet to be confirmed, Yancey had recently suffered from kidney problems. His latest album, Donuts, released on Tuesday, was partially recorded in the hospital using a portable studio.
Jay Dee began his career as a member of the Ummah, A Tribe Called Quest's production team. He would go on to make beats for Common, Busta Rhymes, De La Soul, Pharcyde, and many others. He was a member of Slum Village, collaborated with Madlib as Jaylib, and put out several acclaimed solo albums, mixes, and singles. Pharrell Williams once called Jay Dee his favorite hip-hop producer.
Peter Adarkwah, the founder of BBE Records, which released Jay Dee’s 2001 solo album Welcome 2 Detroit, gave the following statement: "Jay was one of my favorite Hip-Hop producers of all time. His passion for music was a rare thing amongst people in the music industry. His music and presence will be sorely missed for many years to come."

Dear company,
Thanks for the "bonus". To the 43% taxation, I just want to say
And yeah, I like eating excrement, not getting paid for it Play the guilt, play the fear & play the anxiety And yeah, I like eating excrement, not getting paid for it Play the guilt, play the fear & play the anxiety

Want to know why I hate the Adbusters forum?
http://community.livejournal.com/adbusters/411424.html
Like, high school sucked. It really did, but I knew who was going to punch me in the face, and it certainly wasn't the "group" that I hung out with -- okay, and if it did happen, I knew why.
This is why we're never going anywhere as a race. We might get what we want at some point, but it will already be "wanted". Bottom line: people want to complain about everything, myself included...
I hate "ists" and "isms" and things we learn in advanced education that make us snobs and form groups to feel secure...really, I can barely trust myself. Ah, if you only read one thing, read some of those replies. It's this way all the time!

A.D. Amorosi reports: Jamie Lidell unleashes the artfully dodging demon lurking deep inside the electronic continuum. He doesn't do a whole lot of dodging, though, what with only two albums in the past five years. But when the whiskey+honey singer/beat boxer/performance artist makes a move, he makes it count. He makes like James Brown and makes it funky.
His 2005 retro-soul album Multiply, as well as his ever-stretching stage show (a multimedia extravaganza of props, costumes, masks, and a "Media Suit"), have turned him into the latest avant-pop heartthrob. And come April, he'll woo the masses on a lengthy North American tour.
In an interview last year, Lidell talked about the difference between listening to Multiply in the privacy of your own boudoir and the live experience. "It's chocolates versus cake. I like ‘em both, but the album is a morning hot chocolate. The cake is a different beast. I would never eat a layer cake in the morning. I never play in the morning. I'm not saying that I wouldn't consider a pain au chocolat in the morning. But a fancy cake...that's for when the lights go down. You get me?
Yes, we get you. You're making us hungry.

Hey, Cat Power canceled her American tour...big surprise? She is the perfect example of the-more-you-ignore-me-the-closer-I-get syndrome. But reverse those proper nouns.
Mignight Mondays equals midnight snoring. Boring, though I did see the girl known as the December stalker. I got out of there before she was drunk and stupid.
There is a gigantic U-haul parked a few doors down from my house. The odd thing is that it's been there for over a week. The odder thing is that one of the block renobs is out there every day, opening and closing the hood in an attempt to fix it. I have a few theories about this truck.
1) meth lab. Like, duh. It's huge. I'm certain you could cook up a ton of ish in there without even trying.
2) the whole apartment building is staging a vanishing act, disappearing one night...after they get the thing going.
Did I mention it's huge!? It is!!! I want something interesting to happen, and that truck is my only hope.
Otherwise, afternoon naps in the sun is my sole salvation. No coffee means lots of naps.
I haven't moved everything into my room, but it's coming. I keep weighing the options. I won't have a window to peer from, but the view is only a brick wall and pigeons, anyway.
I downloaded a bunch of stuff for my set on Wednesday...lots of Supergrass and Primal Scream. God, I'm so boring right now.
Oh, the award for the Luckiest Man on the Planet goes to...P Diddy(hole). That guy has lucked into a fortune he doesn't even remotely deserve. People have to remix him and guest star on his solo shit to make it slightly interesting. I bet he thanks God every night that B.I.G. died...and that Lil' Kim humped him. God, what a lucky bastard...he was -- not the humping. Maybe there's more to him??? I doubt it. He does "do it for the love", though. Grrrrr.
